Varinder Sahota, Wills and Estate Planning Consultant

With a double major in Criminology and Criminal Justice and over five years of experience working within the Alberta Courts, specifically the Court of King’s Bench Surrogate section, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field of probate and estate planning. My career began as a Judicial Clerk, where I honed my skills and understanding of the legal intricacies involved in wills and estate planning. Over the years, I advanced to the role of Senior Judicial Clerk, ultimately becoming the backup supervisor of the surrogate court section.

My deep understanding of the application process, gained through the review of thousands of grant applications, enables me to guide clients with precision and confidence. I know exactly what Justices and clerks look for during the review process, ensuring that applications are thorough and compliant.

In addition to my role as a Commissioner of Oaths, I played a key role in creating the application forms currently used across Alberta and contributed to the development of the surrogate digital system utilized by law firms for filing applications. I was an active member of the surrogate reform group and the surrogate implementation team, responsible for updating forms and manuals across Alberta’s surrogate section. My work has not only streamlined processes but has also made a lasting impact on the legal framework within the Province.

I take a hands-on approach with my clients, simplifying the probate and estate planning process to ensure they understand each step of their application. My goal is to keep clients informed and at ease throughout the entire process. I am also committed to keeping my services affordable, especially given the rising cost of living. I make sure my fees are more cost-effective than those of a lawyer, without compromising on the quality of service.

Having passed the Court of King’s Bench Legal Aid program, I am dedicated to providing my clients with the highest level of service and expertise in probate, wills, and estate planning. My mission is to simplify the complexities of estate planning for my clients, ensuring their wishes are honored and their loved ones are protected.
